Mexico in May

Hi All,

As you might know, we all travelled to Cancun, Mexico, in May. We had a relaxing time, as you can expect, eating good food, swimming, reading by the ocean shore, and doing some shopping.

We noticed that, except for the pesos, the Spanish, and the Mexican souvenirs, one could confuse Cancun for any US coastal city. Much of Cancun is designed make tourists comfortable, including making sure they have access to McDonalds, Starbucks, and designer stores. We vacationed in Puetro Vallarta a vew years ago, and although Puerto Vallarta certainly had its share of U.S. comforts, it was also easier to "get away." In Puetro Vallarta, we were within walking distance from a little Mexican village and as many Mexican citizens vacationed at the resort we stayed at as did folks from the U.S. and Canada.

Even still, it was a fun, relaxing vacation, and we'd be happy to have the opportunity to do it again. Shahra loved the pool and spent as much of her days as she could in it. To get her to leave the pool, we had to ply her with 7-Ups and the promise of "Cinderella" or "Mermaid" cheeseburgers. (Not sure what she was looking for here, but we found that if we called the food "Cinderella" this or "Mermaid" that, she was more likely to eat it.)
